Shakshuka or eggs in sauce – Healthy cuisine

Shakshuka is a dish of eggs cooked in a spicy tomato sauce. It is a simple, nutritious and tasty recipe, which is preferably served in the pan located in the center of the table. There are many variations of this dish, but I recommend the basic version that you can modify according to your taste. You can accompany the Shakshuka with a slice of homemade bread because with this sauce the slipper is mandatory!


2 eggs
200 grams of copper tomatoes
1 pepper
1 clove of garlic
a pinch of cumin and a pinch of paprika
a few leaves of coriander or basil
salt, pepper, oil


Clean the red pepper, remove the inner seeds and cut it into cubes. Clean the garlic and tomatoes and cut them into small pieces. Pour a spoonful of oil into a non-stick pan and brown the garlic. Take it out of the pan, add the pepper and saute it for a few minutes on a fairly high heat. Add the washed tomatoes, the spices and mix. Continue cooking on medium heat for about 10 minutes. After the allotted time, use a spoon to make wells in the sauce and peel the eggs. Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low heat for about 5 minutes until the eggs are set.
